Loire. From 103 to 63 kg thanks to an operation, she wants to raise awareness about obesity: "I found myself again"

By 2050, 60% of the world's population is expected to be affected. France is beginning to respond with an "obesity plan" that the government is expected to roll out at the start of the school year to combat this disease, which has become a "pandemic," says Pierre Blanc, coordinator of the Mutual Obesity Center in Saint-Étienne. Caroline, 53, is a former obese person. Having been under the care of Pierre Blanc, who performed a bypass operation on her 10 years ago, she is now an expert patient who attends the center's information meetings.
"The world is getting bigger." Pierre Blanc, coordinator of the Mutualist Obesity Center, observes this daily during the consultations he provides at the 7 Collines Center in Saint-Etienne. It's getting so bigger that "we're already in a pandemic," announces the visceral and digestive surgeon at the Mutualist Clinic.
A global epidemic that has also affected France for several years. "In France, the prevalence of obesity is increasing. It is estimated at 17% among adults. It is expected to continue to increase. In the USA, by 2030, 50% of the population will be obese. France is still 10 years behind the United States."
